creative team
All members of the Aquabox Design creative team have both industry and agency experience, so we understand the creative process from both sides. Below are profiles from some of our collective members. Aquabox Design employs additional members not listed on this site, and we'll be sure to match your needs with the appropriate designers. Jeff Rodanski - The Print and Flash Guy
When you look at Jeff's track record, you might assume that he's one of those creative directors who care more about awards than results. Not so! Whether he's designing for online or traditional media, Jeff judges the success of his designs on their ability to generate response.
Jeff has created advertising for companies of all sizes, including JVC, Saucony, Discover Card, CaseLogic, Worldprints, People I Know, nReach.com, Maxim, and others.
Shiela Mudd - The Marketer
Shiela graduated with honors from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Fine Arts. She spent over two years working for Volan Design, a Boulder, Colorado design firm, where she wore many hats including flash designer, copywriter and brand strategist. In her professional experience she has worked for clients such as Hitachi, Samsung, and E.Digital.
Shiela has collaborated with copywriters, engineers and programmers to create professional multimedia presentations and brochures. Her animations have been featured on Flashkit, but one of her most rewarding experiences is being an associate professor for the University of Colorado.
Daemian McGill - The User Interface Guy
Daemian has been designing Web sites for over five years, when he added the Technology Arts and Media certification to his BA in English Literature at the University of Colorado. From print media, he went on to complete his MA in Digital Media Studies at the University of Denver. Daemian's written thesis, "Electronic Phenomenology," confirmed personal gravity toward the praxis confronting interactive media and their cultural connections. He is currently working on a dual-doctorate at the University of Denver (Philosophy) and the Iliff School of Theology, having creating an iconoclastic specialization in what he describes as the "philosophy of electronic media technology."
Daemian has lived in Colorado for nearly 20 years. He knows the Boulder scene intimately — its people, businesses, changing developments on downtown corners, cafes, as well as marketing atmosphere and trends. Given the noted worldliness of Boulder at-large (as one of the nation's most educated populations, per capita), he senses that his experience bears insight into the wider postmodern stage for communication and advertising arts. More recently, Daemian has shifted his focus from website design toward multi-sensory Flash media experiences; of particular interest is how design modifies human interaction vis a vis the scripted/coded aspects of web media.
His past clients include nonprofits such as the Center for International
Relations (DU), Sabre Technologies (they decontaminated Washington DC's postal buildings of Anthrax), the Jared Polis Foundation, Metropolitan Glass (this region's largest glass contractor), as well as local health and arts professionals - including work for the Boulder-Dushanbe Sister Cities Project.
Simi Schwartz - The Illustrator
Simi graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design. She began working for architect Michael Batten Warren creating hand-drawn construction documents and graphics. Soon after, Simi moved on to work at Studio Twelve 12 where she assisted founder Jodi Moehring in graphic and interior design projects.
Wanting to pursue other avenues of graphic design, Simi began contracting for different companies, including ski manufacturer, Liberty Skis, as well as Internet companies, Streetnik and Discount Hotels.
